Ashkenaz Foundation presents Semer Ensemble

Semer Ensemble performs rare music recorded by Jewish artists in Berlin during the 1930s on the Semer record label. Thought to be lost for decades, this remarkable repertoire was miraculously re-assembled little more than 20 years ago, and subsequently transformed into a powerful concert experience, featuring leading performers of the Yiddish culture scene. Led by accordionist/pianist Alan Bern (Brave Old World), Semer Ensemble also includes acclaimed vocalists Lorin Sklamberg (Klezmatics), Daniel Kahn, Sasha Lurje, and Fabian Schnedler, and instrumental virtuosos, Mark Kovnatskiy (violin) and Martin Lillich (bass).
