Yascha Mounk is a writer and academic known for his work on the crisis of democracy and the defense of philosophically liberal values. In his new book, The Great Experiment: Why Democracies Fall Apart and How They Can Endure, Mounk draws on history, social psychology, and comparative politics, to examine how diverse societies have long suffered from the ills of domination, fragmentation, or structured anarchy. The urgent problem that remains is how can we strike a fair balance between our personal identities and the fundamental needs of representational democracy for all.
