Ceol Kids is a diverse group of musicians who came together for a surprise party a few years ago. The plan was to take 30 random songs from the ipod of the guest of honour, and perform them as best as possible. When it was all said and done, we had 30 different musicians contributing everything from fiddle, horns, and yes, even accordion on songs from a wildly divergent range of bands including No Doubt, The Who, Bon Jovi, Spirit of the West, and maybe just a little Neil Diamond… It was such an entertaining night for both audience and band members alike, that all involved decided that it could not be put to rest. Instead of a closed surprise party, we decided that we could put our talents toward raising money for a local charity that we all believed in. The Regent Park School of Music was very quickly decided upon. The name Ceol Kids comes from the Gaelic word for ‘music’ (pronounced kyool).
