Coal Mine Theatre

Since it was founded in 2015 by Diana Bentley and Ted Dykstra, The Coal Mine Theatre has become one of the most talked-about and critically acclaimed Off-Off Broadway* theatres in Toronto.

In its intimate space on the Danforth the Coal Mine has for six seasons presented some of the most challenging, stimulating, and award-winning scripts from Canada and around the world.

With numerous nominations and prestigious awards earned by its actors, directors, and designers. In fact, before the 2019-20 Coal Mine season was interrupted by COVID 19, it had garnered four Dora Mavor Moore Awards and a Toronto Theatre Critics’ Award.
