Social Growl Dance

Social Growl Dance is a Toronto-based contemporary dance company. Since 2012, it has supported the development and performance of large ensemble contemporary dance creations and collaborations led by queer Artistic Director and Choreographer Riley Sims.

Social Growl’s work exists in live performance, in the moments of intimacy shared between performers and audiences. The company’s performances are interdisciplinary; dance and theatre are merged, combining movement with scripted and improvised text. Many artists contribute to Social Growl’s creations, from dancers, actors, musicians, and videographers from all over Ontario and Quebec. The ongoing collaboration between anglophone and francophone artists has become a necessary part of the company’s identity.
