School Shines with Street Art

Presented by 6IX Academy at Unknown

Over the years, Central Toronto Academy’s Fine HeART program has been painting, drawing, silkscreening, spray painting and photographing its way out of the classroom studios and onto the walls, lockers, asphalt and brick exterior of the building. Join us on a school tour of street art collaborations with some of Toronto’s top talent such as Poser, Javid Jah, Leyland Adams, Mango Peeler, Phil Cote, Kedre Brown + Jessey Pacho of Paint the City Black, and Mel Bartel + HeARTs Department students with a tribute to Autumn Peltier.

Most recently members of CTA’s Black Student Alliance and AIM(ARTivism Inclusivity Movement) along with photography + graphics students collaborated with Afrofuturist Yung Yemi. The collaboration consisted of a 20x20 foot wheat paste mural installation installed on Roxton Street to celebrate diversity and the emPOWERment of young women rolled in the arts + business “6IX Academy” program.

Head back to high school on Thursday, Oct 6th and the “6IX Academy” (aka CTA) ARTivism Inclusivity Movement and Truth and Reconciliation Committee will provide a tour of art installations and SHSM students will be managing a pop-up market. Artist Yung Yemi will have a second installation in place, and visitors will have an opportunity to participate in a collective creative piece.

Tours will run each hour on the hour with the following schedule:

10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm

Please drop us an email if you are able to join for one of the scheduled tours. Neighbourhood teachers, bring your classes by!
