The Departures Series is psyched to welcome back Oren Ambarchi, whose nuanced approach to the guitar and electronics finds him anywhere between reflective ambient soundscapes, heavy drones, and intricate rhythmic studies. Canadian sound artist Crys Cole builds textural worlds through sonically transformed mundane objects. Meditative yet haunting, her work amplifies the subtle changes and minor mutations in life. Kicking off the evening, cellist Amahl Arulanandam, electronic object whisperer Allison Cameron, saxophonist / guitarist Colin Fisher and tar player Araz Salek form an improvised quartet. They reprise their collaboration from Exquisite Departures (an exquisite corpse inspired recording project), but this time in the live realm.
