Polotechnics returns with three supercharged live sets featuring the Toronto debut of San Francisco-based AIDA alongside Kehdo and Ensoul. World-inspired music with electronic, house, techno, progressive breakbeat, Balearic beats and more.
Polotechnics returns with the Toronto debut of AIDA (Aida Rez), San Francisco-based DJ and founder of the collaborative project Apranik Records, Kehdo (Kate Mcintosh), Toronto-based DJ and one-third of On Earth Presents and Ensoul (Kourosh Dehghani), curator, promoter and organizer of Pillow Talk fame, for three supercharged live sets.
Straddling rich Iranian roots and a serene west-coast Canadian upbringing, AIDA combines world-inspired music with electronic to give colourful twists to masterful blends of groovy house, techno and breaks geared for the dancefloor. Kehdo brings gritty electro, techno and progressive breakbeat and Ensoul offers thick basslines, freaky synths and heavy drum machine workouts with Balearic beats.
Polotechnics shines a light on international and local artists from the Iranian diasporic underground, shifting and broadening perspectives of Persian electronic music. From high-energy dance beats to contemplative sound art, Link Music Lab’s new series invites a range of genres such as EBM, electro, techno, acid and all things synth. Polotechnics is a portmanteau of “Technics”, the Japanese brand name for a line of high-end audio equipment, the game of polo, an Iranian invention and the Farsi word for rice, also polo, aiming to nourish the soul by expanding perceptions of Iranian electronic music.
