Author Book Signing & Vintage Jewellery Sale

Presented by Toronto Vintage Costume Jewellery Club at Toronto Arts & Letters Club

Art Deco lovers will love this FREE event June 3 at the historic Great Hall of the Toronto Arts & Letters Club! Meet Patricia Gostick, collector and author of the illustrated artist biography, McClelland Barclay: Painter of Beautiful Women and More. The event includes a showcase and sale of rare vintage costume jewellery by McClelland Barclay made between 1938 - 1943. Books will be available to purchase, and author will attend to sign copies at this free one-day event.

McClelland Barclay (1891-1943) became famous for his fashionable Fisher Bodies ads for GM in the early days of the automobile, and gained fame in the 1920s and 30s during the golden age of illustration. The book by Gostick is the first ever published account of his life and works made possible by her extensive research and exclusive access to personal papers, as well as Lieut. Cmdr. Barclay WWII US Naval Reserve service records and art collection held by the US Naval History and Heritage Command in Washington, DC.

Patricia Gostick is the founder of the Toronto Vintage Costume Jewellery Club, established in 2005. This author book signing and jewellery event takes place with other TVCJC members offering a range of vintage costume jewellery at the sale. This is a rare opportunity to visit the Arts & Letters Club, meet the author and see the collections on offer from the most respected dealers in Toronto.
