BL METAMORPHOSIS, Canadian Premiere, TORONTO JAPANESE FILM FESTIVAL

Presented by Toronto Japanese Film Festival at Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre

This heartwarming film adaptation of Tsurutani Kaori's popular manga warmly depicts the friendship between two women fifty-eight years apart in age. Urara is a socially awkward 17-year-old high school student who doesn't have any friends or a boyfriend. Her only enjoyment is secretly reading “boy's love” manga. She works part-time as a cashier at a bookstore where she meets 78-year-old widow Yuki. Yuki happens to buy a BL manga due to its eye pleasing cover and is soon a fan of the manga genre. Based on their common interest, a friendship between Urara and Yuki blossoms and they decide to take on a challenge. A charming and lighthearted tale of a unique female friendship.

Starring Mana Ashida, Nobuko Miyamoto, Kyohei Takahashi, Kotone Furukawa
