Viano String Quartet

Viano String Quartet

Presented by Mooredale Concerts at University of Toronto - Walter Hall

Praised for their “huge range of dynamics, massive sound and spontaneity” (American Record Guide), Canadian-American Viano won first prize at the 2019 Banff International String Quartet Competition. They are also prize-winners at Osaka and Fischoff international competitions. Formed in 2015 at Colburn Conservatory in Los Angeles, the quartet has performed internationally at Wigmore Hall, Place Flagey, Izumi Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin, and Segerstrom Center for the Arts. They have collaborated with artists such as Emanuel Ax, Noah Bendix-Balgley, and Marc-Andre Hamelin. Their program includes works by Bartók, Piazzolla, and Beethoven.

“…[they] play with a rare unity of intention and a clearly profiled collective voice, one that blends virtuosity and visceral expression in a way that produces a distinct ensemble personality…” Boston Globe
