Shorts In Conversation - curated by Reel Asian

Presented by Ace Hotel Toronto and Reel Asian at Interspace at Ace Hotel Toronto

Our series, “Shorts In Conversation,” makes a moment for cinema and dialogue. We invite an organization to curate a showing of films alongside their makers, followed by the directors in dialogue about their craft. The month of May begins our partnership with Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival.  Screening focuses on mood-based shorts.

A mood-based shorts program by local filmmakers that reflects the spectrum of feelings during the summer season.

About the partner:

Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival is a unique showcase of contemporary Asian cinema and work from Asia and the Asian diaspora. Works include films and videos by artists in Canada, the U.S., Asia and all over the world. As Canada’s largest pan-Asian film festival, Reel Asian provides a public forum for Asian media artists and their work, and fuels the growing appreciation for Asian cinema in Canada.

KYLE CREDO (he/him) is an award winning Filipino-Canadian filmmaker that has had his films shown across the globe. He graduated from Centennial College's Broadcasting and Film program, where he won Best Film (2013) and Best Director (2014) at Centennial's Donny Awards. In 2015, he relocated to Taipei City, Taiwan where he taught English and drama at the prestigious Treehouse Academy. He was also the head of the Film and Television Department with responsibilities such as writing, directing and overseeing all video content. Upon returning to Ontario, Kyle was awarded a grant from the Canada Council of the Arts to make his short film A Lonely Afternoon (2020). His latest short film A Two (2022), which premiered at Bali's International Short Film Festival, was made with no budget and a crew of three.

All films screening will be accompanied with open captions or English subtitles (all languages will be subtitled, including English).
