Ace Hotel Toronto’s film screening series, 'Shorts In Conversation,' makes a moment for cinema and dialogue. Every month, we invite an organization to curate films and filmmakers to discuss the craft, taste, and journey of putting thoughts into moving images.

The theme for August’s shorts is Past/Present, Then/Now, to explore the intersection between past and present in analogue media.

This theme is a great introduction to the8fest, a unique Toronto-based film festival that sheds light on creatives using small-gauge to create rough little gems on film. All forms of small-gauge film are showcased: 8mm, Super 8 and 9.5mm. This program will focus on contemporary film shot analogue on small-gauge, capturing the modern day in a nostalgic lens.
