Pictures at an Exhibition: Scenes in Sound

Presented by Sinfonia Toronto at Trinity-St. Paul's United Church

Sinfonia Toronto will feature Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, at their concert on November 10 at the Trinity-St. Paul’s Centre. Led by Music Director Nurhan Arman, the orchestra will escort listeners through a musical gallery of vivid images in this famous Romantic work.

Acclaimed flute soloist Luisa Sello will perform works spanning centuries and styles. The world premiere of Donas de Fuera (Women from the Outside), by JUNO award winning composer Chan Ka Nin brings a Sicilian supernatural folktale to life in sound and also acting as part of the solo role. Ms. Sello will also play the Canadian premiere of Rugiada – Elegy for Flute in G by Ezio Monti and Vivaldi’s Concerto for Flute in F Major Op.10 No.5, a Baroque favourite full of virtuosity and expressive melody.

Continuing the celebration of the orchestras 25th anniversary season, the program will also include a newly commissioned work by Alexandar Simić entitled In Memoriam.

Flutist Luisa Sello is a highly sought after artist, performing as a recitalist, chamber musician, and soloist with many orchestras around the world. She is Artistic Director of the Amici della Musica Association in Udine, has recordings on the Stradivarius label, and has won numerous literary awards for her poetry and published essays.

He concluded a busy 2022-23 season with concerts in Montreal, Greece, the Republic of Georgia and Italian orchestras in Friuli and Tuscany and will open his 2023-24 season with a fourth return to the Arpeggione Chamber Orchestra in Austria.
