Black in Canada is a glimpse into the social and emotional impact of systemic racism, while teaching audiences about the accurate history of racial oppression in Canada.
Black in Canada is an episodic performance that uses dance, spoken word, and recorded archives to reinforce the powerful impact that Black people have had on the social and cultural fabric of our land. The work interprets the hurtful consequences of systemic racism and aims to educate the audience about the true histories and contemporary climate of hate speech and racial oppression within Canada. The show celebrates the strength of the black community , and how through all adversities, still create art and culture that influences Canadian society.
