Around Strange Phool's Tablescape

Around Strange Phool's Tablescape

Presented by Ace Hotel Toronto at Ace Hotel Toronto

Mimosa Haque, a Bangladeshi Canadian artist, explores otherworldly gardenscapes and newfangled floral design under the moniker Strange Phool. On January 23, she will set an intricate tablescape inspired by nature’s imperfections and the architectural elements of Ace Toronto. Upon that table, we will serve a three-course dinner prepared by Alder. Fusing Strange Phool’s singular perspective on plants and the wood-fired cooking of Chef Patrick Kriss, the evening will be a meditation on how we construct the organic within ourselves.

A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to SOSA, the not-for-profit organization that embraces and aims to promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the professions of architecture and design.

About the partner

Mimosa Haque is a Bangladeshi-Canadian artist and uses Strange Phool to explore her creative passions with florals and set design in film. Inspired by nature, its imperfections and our interaction with it, Strange Phool aims to evoke emotions in the present — to surrender and wonder

SOSA is a not-for-profit organization that embraces and aims to promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the professions of architecture and design. SOSA was formed in 2021 by a small group of architects who identified the need for a community-based professional organization to represent the interests of South Asian architecture and design professionals in Canada.
