The Terminal Diner: An exploration of end-of-life through design and science

Presented by Bruyère Research Institute, McMaster University, University of Ottawa at Evergreen Brick Works

The Terminal Diner, an interactive design installation, is open now at Toronto’s Evergreen Brick Works! No registration is required & admission is free.

The Terminal Diner invites us to explore what people hope for at end of life. Sound glum? It doesn’t have to be. Death and dying remain difficult topics to confront and discuss for many Canadians, but understanding our wants and needs, or the wants and needs of our loved ones, is a valuable part of the end-of-life journey.

For the next week, this collaboration between researchers and designers welcomes the public to place an “order” for their desired end-of-life care journey and to leave “reviews” of past experiences, which capture the care journeys of loved ones. Drawn from research on palliative and end-of-life care, this installation is a beautiful way to reflect and to help guide the future of healthcare in Canada.
