Dominic Desautels, clarinet, with Jean-Philippe Sylvestre, piano, and Zsófia Stefán, bassoon play music by Clara and Robert Schumann, Brahms, and Glinka
Principal clarinetist at the Canadian Opera Company, Dominic Desautels enjoys a thriving career as a soloist, chamber musician and pedagogue, at home as well as abroad. He holds the principal clarinet chair at the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra. Earlier, he was principal clarinetist at the Orquestra Filarmônica de Minas Gerais in Brazil, and then at Symphony Nova Scotia in Halifax. He started playing the clarinet at 15, and made his debut as a soloist with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in 2003 at the age of 21. He has taught at Dalhousie and Acadia Universities, and is now on faculty at the University of Toronto.dv
