Navigate with Confidence: a Mental Health and Wellness Workshop

Presented by Canadian Alopecia Areata Foundation at Toronto Metropolitan University Student Centre

The Canadian Alopecia Areata Foundation (CANAAF) is thrilled to present the first-ever Navigate with Confidence: a Mental Health and Wellness Workshop, a transformative event aimed at empowering individuals affected by alopecia areata. This workshop, scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, at the Toronto Metropolitan University Student Centre, offers a unique platform for sharing mental health support and embracing life with confidence, fostering an environment where individuals can exchange ideas, receive encouragement, and navigate the world with renewed strength.

The workshop will have in attendance renowned Canadian comedian, actor, and television host Alan Shane Lewis as the special celebrity guest, who will be sharing his insights and experiences living with alopecia areata. Widely recognized for his role as co-host of The Great Canadian Baking Show, Lewis is set to bring his signature wit and charm, offering attendees a delightful blend of humour and inspiration.

Living with alopecia areata can present various emotional and psychological challenges for individuals and their families. The impact of hair loss extends beyond physical appearance, often affecting self-esteem, identity, and overall mental health. Recognizing the importance of addressing these holistic needs, CANAAF is committed to providing a supportive environment where participants can share experiences, gain insights, and access valuable resources to enhance their mental well-being.

“We warmly extend our invitation to individuals and families impacted by alopecia areata to join us for the Navigate with Confidence workshop,” said Carolynne Harrison, President of CANAAF. “Mental health often gets sidelined, but it's at the core of our well-being, especially for those with alopecia areata. This gathering offers a heartfelt opportunity to unite, to learn, and to share experiences with those walking similar paths.”

Through engaging sessions led by experts in mental health and wellness, participants will discover practical tools for building resilience, managing stress, and cultivating self-compassion. From motivational talks to art and music therapy sessions, meditation, and group discussions, the workshop offers a comprehensive approach to holistic healing and personal growth.
