National Canadian Film Day: Festival Express

National Canadian Film Day: Festival Express

Presented by Fox Theatre at Fox Theatre

“A rock-doc holy grail.” – Village Voice

Hop on board the grooviest train in music history and celebrate ’70s vibes AND Canadian cinema!

In 1970 a train journeyed across Canada carrying some of the greatest rock bands of all time. The Grateful Dead along with Janis Joplin, The Band and many others lived (and partied) for five days, giving concerts where and when they stopped. The train was called the Festival Express.

This rock-filled documentary combines live footage shot during the concerts, as well as footage aboard the train itself, interspersed with present-day interviews with tour participants sharing their often humorous recollections of those crazy days.

Preceded by a psychedelic rock pre-show!

This is a FREE screening as part of National Canadian Film Day, presented by REEL CANADA.

Accessibility Info

Is your theatre accessible? We have a ramp that we can deploy over the three steps leading from the front doors into the lobby. The theatre is accessible from there and we have several spots where we’re able to accommodate a wheelchair. Unfortunately, our washrooms are each down a set of two narrow steps so are inaccessible to wheelchairs.

I have an Access 2 Card, do I have to pay for my PSW?We don’t officially accept the Access2Card program yet, but are working on setting it up. Please send us a message at info@foxtheatre.ca to ensure an additional ticket can be added to your transaction at no charge.
