"One final thing I have to do...and then I'll be free of the past."

After a traumatizing fall from a building, former police officer Scottie (James Stewart) develops a terrible fear of heights. When an old friend hires him to prevent his wife (Kim Novak) from doing something rash, Scottie gets embroiled in a strange knot of hair-raising obsession, lust and betrayal.
