Beginning their first ever season with flourish and fervor, Lazzuli Baroque is proud to present their inaugural show, Journey of Love. Featuring music from early 17th century Italy, soprano Roseline Lambert and mezzo-soprano Rocky Duval are joined by two of Toronto’s finest baroque musicians, lute player Lucas Harris and viola da gamba player Felix Deák. Journey of Love will take place on April 25 at the St. George Chapel in St. James Cathedral, on April 25th at 7:30 pm at Heliconian Hall, on April 27 at Grace Church on-the-hill at 7:30 pm, and finally at 918 Bathurst in the Sun Room on April 28 at 4pm. Journey of Love features works by Monteverdi, Strozzi, Merula, and more. Duval and Lambert explore the tenuous nature of love through the exquisite song tradition of early 17th century Italian music. The concert takes the audience through the stages of love: longing, infatuation, stability, fights, breakups, and even a happy ending for the lovers. This show is as delightful as it is poignant, and this beautiful music shines in their voices.
