70th Anniversary Tribute Concert to "Jazz At Massey Hall"

The Quintet: JAZZ AT MASSEY HALL, released in 1953 and celebrating it’s 70th anniversary this year, was the one and only time each of the performers (Parker, Gillespie, Powell, Mingus, Roach — all seminal to the creation of bebop) would ever play together, making this recording a truly landmark jazz occurrence. In deep tribute to that masterpiece recording, internationally acclaimed multi-award winning trumpet player & jazz iconoclast BROWNMAN ALI, accompanied by a sensational cast of some of Toronto’s jazz elite — including 22-year old alto phenom JAMES GRIFFITH, JUNO winning bass master MIKE DOWNES, JUNO nominated in-demand drummer ETHAN ARDELLI & 10x Global Music Award winner NICK MACLEAN — will perform the entire album’s set list from top to bottom, before highlighting other Charlie Parker & Dizzy Gillespie bebop classics from the same era.
