Ingrid Jensen in concert with Humber Jazz Big Band & Forward Motion

Ingrid Jensen, the New York-based, Canadian-born acclaimed jazz trumpet player, will be the featured guest soloist for a sizzling set of powerful music with the 18-piece Humber Jazz Big Band led by composer/arranger Shelly Berger. The concert program will also feature Jensen’s contemporary works for trumpet and electronics performed with the funk groove-based Forward Motion Ensemble, directed by acclaimed bassist Rich Brown.

Ingrid Jensen has been hailed as one of the most gifted trumpeters of her generation. Originally from Victoria, BC, a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Jensen went on to solidifying a reputation as one of the most in-demand trumpet players on the global jazz scene, after the release of her albums Vernal Fields (Enja label, 1994); Here on Earth (1997) and Higher Grounds (1999).

After touring Europe with the Vienna Art Orchestra, Jensen remained to teach jazz trumpet, becoming, at age 25, the youngest professor at Austria’s Bruckner Conservatory. In 1994 Jensen settled in New York City where she joined the big band DIVA Jazz Orchestra and the innovative jazz ensembles of Maria Schneider (1994-2012) and Darcy James Argue (2002-present). In addition to leading her own bands and performing with Grammy-winning drummer, Terri Lyne Carrington, Jensen is the current Dean of Jazz Arts at the Manhattan School of Music and a dedicated jazz educator.
