An exhibition that explores intuition as a condition of consciousness and a means for expanding our understanding of the world.
The Performance of Shadows explores intuition as a condition of consciousness through the work of three artists of different generations, Betye Saar (b. 1926, Los Angeles), Tim Whiten (b. 1941, Inkster, Michigan), and Erika DeFreitas (b. 1980, Toronto). Curated by Lillian O’Brien Davis, the exhibition considers these three artists’ various approaches involving phenomenology, spirituality, and political engagement, presenting expansive understandings of human existence.
