TONE Festival / New York Review of Cocksucking, Laura Swankey, Del Stephen

TONE continues on June 13 at Bar Orwell. The program features New York Review of Cocksucking which subverts and queers the history of the saxophone. Michael Foster makes multifarious preparations and augmentations to his saxophone while Richard Kamerman offers distended electronic sounds that combine to spiral outward in probing and punctuated gestures of noise, analog glitch, and glam. The program includes two local artists: Del Stephen who wields the piano, synths, and spoken word to mass sound and meaning, and Laura Swankey drawing upon a spectral flurry of vocal sounds to produce enchanting and evolving works.
