A two-day street festival showcasing the best of Filipino culture highlighting its colorful cuisine, province and region celebrations, cultural parades and installations, carnival rides, live musical entertainment and in-event experiences
In keeping with Toronto’s summer vibe of mounting the biggest events, Bathurst St. and Wilson Ave. in North York will play host to a new and exciting Filipino Street Festival, FUN PHILIPPINES!
Organized by the Philippine Legacy and Cultural Alliance (PLACA), the non-profit organization that mounted the highly successful Taste of Manila in 2019, Fun Philippines will celebrate 2022 with food, music, and culture in an all-embracing and inclusive way.
What will make PLACA’s new event, FUN PHILIPPINES exciting for festival goers? The event promises a more fun and most meaningful experience, as it provides significant attention to the unique flavours, history and culture of each Philippine region and the country’s 3 major island groups outside of the country’s capital.
Apart from a wide array of food and craft vendors lined along Bathurst St. and carnival rides, there will be more collaborative participation from Filipino associations across the GTA to bring in colourful and vibrant parades showcasing Philippine regional festivals that the visitors can participate in. Lively street activities and eye-catching Filipino cultural installations will make room for more representation of the various regions of the Philippine and contribute to the festive atmosphere.
FUN PHILIPPINES will continue to partner with TFC, The Filipino Channel, as its exclusive media and entertainment partner.
Reconnecting after the pandemic is paramount to the organizers’ minds to ensure that communities will find reason to engage, enjoy outdoor activities with friends and family. It will be an exciting celebration of Filipino culture and community this July!
Event entrance is FREE. Food and other items sold at the festival need to be purchased
