Our family has always loved a good challenge. Something about a new experience or conquering what was once thought impossible has been driving us for as long as we can remember. Starting the Distillery is our biggest challenge yet and we’re excited to be conquering it as a family.

So why gin? Our family is originally from the UK and we’ve been fortunate to travel back and forth quite a bit. Over the last decade, we have seen an explosion of the craft gin scene across the pond. With each return trip to Canada, we always maximized our duty-free allowance, though we continued to miss the creative ‘gindustry’ thriving overseas.

It didn’t take long before we were creating our own small batches to get a fix of those flavourful recipes we’d fallen in love with over the years. We knew we weren’t the only ones wanting more Canadian gins and so the idea of the Distillery was conceived. We’ve come a long way from tinkering in our kitchen, but we get the same excitement when we fire up our stills Matt and Maureen.

We now have the opportunity to create world-class gins in Toronto. Far from being stuffy or boring, our gins are adventures in flavour. We make gins that we are proud of, using Canadian wheat, wild-foraged Canadian juniper and many other diverse botanicals. We also make gins with different flavours – from spicy to floral, citrus to aged, sweet to herbal. We want even the most seasoned gin drinker to find something new in their experience with Reid’s.
