VideoCabaret is one of Canada’s most inventive, prolific and honoured theatre companies. The founding playwrights, Michael Hollingsworth and Deanne Taylor, have written many enduring works and, with the company’s celebrated designers and actors, created unique styles of staging for plays, multi-media cabarets, opera, and masquerade.

Founded in 1976, VideoCabaret has built a strong following for Hollingworth’s history plays, a collection of darkly comedic Canadian history tellings titled “History of the Village of the Small Huts.” From the legendary Cameron House, to Stratford, to Soulpepper, VideoCab has supported artists in the development of new work, while continuing to present the history classics. Now in its own new home in Toronto’s east end, the company continues to present both new and established works, building on the success that has awarded this company over twenty-three Dora Mavor Moore Awards.
